It's about how God can turn people's lives around.
It's the type of movie that you can proudly take your mother and grandmother too. I wish they would market this type of movie more to a broad audience. It looks like they advertised this almost exclusively to a black audience, I was one of the few white people in the theater in a very integrated community.
A good play turned into an even better movie! I had heard very good things about the play, so was expecting the movie to be relatively okay, maybe two stars. To my surprise the movie was great! It really was. In my opinion, the story moved along at a good pace. Our screening contained a majority black audience, however, the non-black attendees seemed to enjoy the movie just as much, if not more so, than us.
Boy, Was I Wrong! Fantastic Film! I honestly didn't think the movie version of Diary of a Mad Black Woman would even come close to the original stage play. Tyler has definitely outdone himself this time.
I saw the film Saturday and then went back on Sunday to see it again. DOAMBW is a terrific film which ably covers the plot of the original story, only it effectively intensifies all of the emotions of the characters while taking viewers on a roller-coaster ride.
You really can't NOT react. In fact, both days I went, everyone in the both audiences - young, old, male, female, black, white, and in- between - all were caught up in the film. People laughed, cried, yelled, cursed, howled, and shouted at the screen! I haven't seen this much audience reaction throughout a film in decades! I hope this film will be a vehicle for those who don't know Mr. Perry's work, to check out his stage plays.
Don't miss this film! Tyler Perry's humor is over the top by the-movie-guy Charles McCarter Steve Harris and his wife Helen Kimberly Elise are attending an awards banquet where Charles is receiving an award for the most outstanding lawyer in Atlanta. You would think that both of them would be on top of the world, but things are about to change.
They are about to celebrate their 18th-wedding anniversary when Helen comes home to find her clothes packed up in a U-Haul van parked in the driveway. However, there is now a new wardrobe of designer clothes in the closet. Helen thinks this is the big surprise Charles was going to tell her. Charles has to drag Helen out his front door and closes the door on her, because this is his house. Helen moves in with her grandmother Madea Tyler Perry , an old woman who doesn't take any lip from anyone, and if she must, she will use the gun she always carries.
Madea helps Helen through these tough times by showing her what is really important in life. Helen begins to stand on her own two feet and finds a new man, Orlando Shemar Moore. The movie was adapted from the stage play by Tyler Perry, who also played three roles in the film. The movie is well crafted and the comedy timing was on the mark. You will begin to laugh from beginning to end. The ending was about right.
Bravo by rev This is one of the most uplifting movies of the year. While it is somewhat predictable, it still is very well shot and written. The Medea character just cannot be beat. Kimberly Elise once again displays not only her beauty, but her craftsmanship as an actress. She is a black beauty we hope to see more and more of. Shemar Moore is the perfect actor to carry the scenes with Ms.
